A magical wedding and a night to remember! There are weddings that are beautiful, and then there are weddings that feel like an experience from beginning to end. This wedding at Kew Gardens was very much the latter. Set among the incredible gardens, the day had that perfect combination of timeless elegance and relaxed, joyful energy. Kew provided an extraordinary backdrop for the photography. The gardens offer so much variety, from grand architectural details to lush greenery and quiet corners, which meant we could capture a mixture of beautifully composed portraits and those spontaneous moments that tell the real story of a wedding day. And then, just when you might have thought the celebrations couldn't get any better, the evening took a rather brilliant turn. The Orangery became the setting for what can only be described as a proper wedding rave. Rather than simply moving into a conventional evening reception, the atmosphere completely changed. The Orangery was transformed into a place for everyone to let loose, with music, dancing and an energy that carried the party well into the night. It was fantastic to photograph. The formalities of the day had given way to something much more carefree guests dancing together, friends throwing themselves into the celebrations and the couple right in the middle of it all. As a photographer, these are the moments I love. The carefully planned details are wonderful, but there is something particularly special about photographing people when they forget about the camera entirely. The expressions, movement, chaos and laughter become the story. What made this wedding at Kew so memorable was the contrast. There was the beauty and elegance of the gardens, the emotion of the ceremony, the excitement of the speeches and the celebrations- followed by a rave in the Orangery. It felt completely personal to the couple. Nothing was about following a formula simply because that is how weddings are traditionally done. Instead, the day evolved naturally from one celebration into the next, finishing with an incredible party surrounded by the people they love. For me, that is what great wedding photography is about: creating a visual record of the whole experience. Not just how the flowers looked or how the couple looked during the portraits, but how the day felt. And this one felt pretty unforgettable. A brilliant wedding, an amazing couple and one seriously memorable party.
